The polychrome finish on these materials was cleaned, impurities fixed in the layers of paint, curled up paper coats of arms and marouflages smoothed and fixed, gaps filled and the whole retouched.<\/p>\n<p>In the Venerabel Chapel, flooding caused serious damage to the gold leaf finish on the plaster layer.
